What is the one thing that stops you from sitting down and writing?

If you're like most writers it's fear of the dreaded "blank page."

There's nothing more off-putting that not knowing what you are going to write, or worse, not having a clue how to begin or how to write it.

But all is not lost because I am going to show you 3 simple things you can do to help you not only sit down and start writing, but write quickly and produce more work than you ever have done before.

1. Use Templates. These are incredibly useful in helping your set out your work so that you can organise it in the best way possible. If you have a template that you use all the time, the writing process becomes much less complicated. Once you have your research, your template helps you organise it methodically.

Naturally there are different templates for different types of writing projects such as articles, short reports and ebooks. But if you can find a great template, it can help you get to work faster and with much less thinking.

2. Use an outline. Nothing slows down your writing more than not knowing what to say. But if you're working from a detailed outline, most of the work is done for you which means the actual writing is quick, requires little or no thinking, and this makes it fun to do.

3. Practice. Nothing helps to speed up your writing like practice. You can't write quickly straight away. Anything that you do that is worthwhile takes time to learn.

Look at it this way; you didn't learn to drive by only getting behind the wheel once. When you were a child, you didn't learn to tie your shoe laces by being shown just once.

And likewise, you'll never get faster at writing unless you practice more.

The more the write the faster, and better, you'll become. And before you know it you'll have developed such a great writing habit that it becomes effortless for you.

Can you imagine how great it will be to be able to go into your office every day and sit down and start writing straight away? Not only that but you wake up every morning feeling inspired and motivated to write so that you can’t wait to get to work.

That’s what will happen if you use templates, and have an outline written every time before you start writing.

So if you want to speed up your writing and write faster than you ever have before ( and enjoy it), find great templates, write a good outline that you can work from and write more and write often. Getting into the habit of writing every day is best.

And before you know it, you'll be one of the world's most prolific and successful writers.
